COVID-19

A Note About Our Response to COVID-19

Here at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica, the safety of our swimmers and our staff is our most important priority!
That is why while we were closed, we were developing a plan following state and our own guidelines to make sure it is safe to re-open and run swim lessons!
Here are a few of the policy and operational changes we instituted for the time being.

Smaller class sizes

Optional Masks

To promote social distancing, we adjusted student teacher ratios from 5:1 to 3:1, or 4:1. We feel this way we’ll be able to have kids safely separated during their lessons, and your child gets the added bonus of having more time with the instructor!    At this time, masks are optional for all staff, kids, and parents while in the building.

Staggered class times

Social Distancing

To limit the amount of people leaving at the same time, we staggered our class times to ensure lower numbers in the locker rooms.   While in the building, we ask that everyone does their best to maintain a 3ft distance from others. We have spots set up around the pool deck where you can sit and watch your child’s swim lesson. If you feel like you don’t need to watch, we ask that you sit outside and wait!

Other Things You Can Do To Help!

  • Before coming, please wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water.
    • We also have alcohol based sanitizer available around the building.
  • If you, your child, or someone you have been around isn’t feeling well, please stay home!
    • We can reschedule your lesson to a later day to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Teach your children how to wear masks properly, with the mouth and nose entirely covered!
  • Teach your children how to sneeze into their arm or elbow, not their hands!
  • If you are comfortable with it, we encourage everyone to not use the locker rooms after lessons.
    • They will be available after lessons, but only to a limited number of swimmers at a time.
    • To minimize wait, it would be beneficial to change and shower at home.
  • Follow all CDC guidelines for travel, safety and social distancing. They can be found here.

We’re hopeful with these policies, additional safety measures and with your help we will be able to have a safe and fun environment to have swim lessons in.
